Richard, Maybe. I will look into it. Yes, Elon Musk founded Paypal and is now investing his fortune in his dreams including space ships and Tesla motors. I respect what Tesla is doing but their operation will never be able to compete with the scale of GM. GM just needs a brain transplant and they could be as good or better than Toyota. I hope the Volt is the Jolt they need to get the surgery started. Corey

Thank you Corey,
I will say that GM is capable of doing it and I was figuring out a way to challenge them to do the right thing in this matter. First off I couldn't discover a chink in the corporate armor where my point of view could be inserted. Second I didn't think I could myself from expressing extreme discontent over the EV1 debacle or suicidal promotion of the large SUV in their marketing.
Having said that, I feel strongly that we in this country have an obligation to preserve and promote our auto industry. I have never bought a new car in my life. This will be a statement about who I am and my values and will set an example for others. Heck there will be such a clamor over the Volt that getting in an order early is the only guarantee of not waiting extra long. So I'm voting with my dollars despite exterme displeasure with GM for what they did in the past.
I converted a VW Rabbit pick up to 100% electric and drove it from 1997 til 2005. I love electric cars. I have the money in the bank right now to buy a Volt for $25000, but, why should I trust GM to deliver without a committed delivery date while they are holding onto my money?
How much is the deposit anyway?
Thanks again, Richard

Richard, Thank you for your thoughtful reply. This is my way of raising the volume on this issue and your support - and the support of thousands of others - is the only way we can be heard by GM. I appreciate your reservations regarding the delivery date and I don't have the answers for you. My strategy is to make a compelling case the American way...with cash. How can GM turn down 100,000 pre-orders worth $2.5 billion dollars? What are they going to say ... thanks but we are happy selling the Malibu at a deep discount while we write down $37 billion dollars in losses? Many of us feel the same and, if organized, we can change our future. We don't need to wait for the executive office to hand us our clothes, food, cars, and homes anymore. So far the deposit is $2,500. I am VERY sensitive to everyone's feelings about how this should be managed. Your feedback would be very welcome.
Thank you, Corey

I suggest you contact GM directly, via registered mail, on professional letterhead. Also make your letter public, and hope the press picks up on it. Contact the LA times, NY times, Chicago newspapers, CNN, wall street journal, etc. Be prepared to give them more info about the Volt to make the story more worthy. THEN GM might take notice.

Josh, Thank you for your feedback. I am in contact with a reporter from Business Week already (my site has only been up since Nov 8th so that must be good news) and I have had visits from some others including the LA Times. I haven't gone to GM yet but expect that they will reach out to me - at least I hope they do. I am preparing a media kit for everyone and will blast it to the papers once I reach 10,000 interested buyers which would represent $250 million in Volt sales. A drop in the bucket but that is my first goal and hope to be taken seriously once I reach it. My stretch goal is 1 million buyers. It may sound crazy but this is a big world and the internet is an amazing tool. I am optimistic.

Thanks again Corey, I'll try to stay with you, but considering what I'm driving now ('91 NIssan Pathfinder at 18mpg), I couldn't wait. So Saturday I went over to the Honda dealer and got a Civic Hybrid which is supposed to get 45. Unfortunateld GM is tkaing too long as far as I"m concerned - BUT - maybe after the first year (which I expect to be 2011) I'll be ready for Volt then and the bugs will be all gone. Feel free to keep chatting and I'll try to help you promote this any way I can - still not quite sure how you can deliver a Volt, though. All The Best, Mike

Mike, I respect that decision. I drove Honda's before I discovered Toyota and now I am a die hard Toyota man. However.....I have always wanted to be an American car guy. The Volt is the only way to make that happen for me. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Regarding delivering the Volt ..... I don't have any answers - just a lot of passion right now. So far the response to Volt4me has been phenomenal and I feel like there is a real chance at miracles here. We shall see. Cheers, Corey
