Thank You Corey, I think maybe you should encourage Chevrolet (GM) to advance hydrogen technology as it appears to me that they may now lose this race (an alternative to fossil fuels) to Honda who is marketing (albeit regiionally) thier hydrogen fuel cell FCX Clarity in a few areas of California. I am in Washington state as you know (I think) and this option (as with the Volt) is a few years off. I live in a high-rise condo and the prospect of throwing an extension cord off my balacony (to recharge the Volt) looks to be less attractive as I look at other options. I'm so disappointed at how dependent we are on oil that this is all discouraging to me. I once saw that Chrysler was investing a billion dollars into fuel cells, but what happened to that(?)...sure..."big business" or whoever seems to be running this country has probably conspired to stop any movement away from oil. I'm so fed up I can't begin to tell you here. If you would like to continue corresponding that's fine with me, but I should let you know that I don't feel that I would give you a deposit for the Volt without some guarantee of delivery...and...I wonder how you could make that guaranty. Ok, well that's my rant for this evening - I hope it makes some sense. Probably what I"m trying to say is, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do. A $600 a month lease for three years for the Honda FCX seems pretty high to me, but what are the savings in gasonline as opposed to hydrogen? I notice they (Honda) are including maintenance with that lease, but I'll bet not the cost of fuel, hmmm? Okay, okay...that's enuff for now ... oh...except what is the status of the battery for the Volt? I've seen/heard that that seems to be the stumbling block for this vehicle. Did they (GM) find someone who could deliver? Again thx, Mike

Mike, Thanks for the note. I share your frustrations which I why I have decided to ACT! I also share your concerns about the deposit and guarantee. I am working on that so please stay with me. This isn't a "pay my rent" scheme and I will have everything worked out by the time I roll out a program. Lets leverage the power of the internet and change America for the better together. As for the batteries...They have 3 suppliers. A123 is their most talked about supplier since they appear to have the best technology. They are getting a ton of investment capital to build the batteries so it looks legit from this end. As far as I can tell, everything is rolling into place but nothing has been proven yet. It is hard to believe but it looks like GM is doing the right thing and may just turn out to be one of the most innovative places on the planet in a few years. I never thought I would say that. As for the hydrogen,etc....that much fancy technology won't be necessary if batteries keep growing up like thy have in the past 10 years. If the Volt is going to get 40 miles per charge in the first year, it is going to get 400 at the end of the first decade. If this takes off, all of the burden will be on the power companies to meet the demand. The Volt is an end round on all of todays technology solutions and, if successful, will make them all obsolete.
Thanks for your participation. Corey

Corey, Thanks for starting the drive demonstrating to Chevy widespread interest in the Volt. People I know from all walks of life and differing views agree the Volt captures their interest. I hope Chevy plans to produce enough of these babies to satisfy demand. Sincerely, Thomas

The Volt estimated cost is $18,000 on a chevy web site. You might want to research whose est is correct so as not to alienate potential buyers. Thanks for the reply to my inquiry.

Thank you for your note. Since this car is many years from production, the final price is completely unknown. Between now and final release, there will be many estimates on the price. I appreciate your comment as I have been hesitant about putting forward a price estimate but - since there is so much interest in the price - I have taken a poll of my members and found that most expect the price to be around $25k. I wish I could avoid any price reference but my entire program is based on actually buying a Volt so I have been forced to pick a price. With an exceptional effort, I believe we can get this car from GM for $18,000. This is, however, a VERY low price for any vehicle in today's market and it will be even harder to keep this price in 3 years.
I appreciate your comments and I am learning from all of my members and ask that you stay engaged with the process and add your opinions and experience at every opportunity.
With regards, Corey

Lance, Thanks for the link. I will include it on the site. This will be a big market with room for everyone but I think it would be a mistake to think of companies like Aptera or Tesla as competition for GM. Electric cars have been on the road for a 100 years but we are still choking on our own exhaust from combustion engines. GM has the power and resources to change how the planet moves around. This is the moment for all of us to put our energy behind this bold initiative and come together as Americans to build a better future. I appreciate your comments. Please keep the lively discussion going.

Corey...
A suggestion. Be very, very careful of your spelling, syntax, and grammar usage. You're dealing with highly educated people in this first group of adopters and if you come off as uneducated, you're going to come off as a fly-by-night person. Check, recheck etc before putting anything out via email or posting on your site. example: " Several people are even anxiuos to send" anxious

Oh, I forgot to mention this, Does PayPal offer a reasonable way to send these deposits? That would be my choice if they dont take too much of a transaction fee. Isn't Elon Musk a founder of PayPal and also Tesla Motors?
